Glyn Satterley - Profile

Glyn Satterley was born in Kent, England. He graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Ravensbourne College, but continued to pursue a love for photography rather than painting.

Alongside his more commercial work, he has worked on several large projects, the main ones being:

• A look at Scotland's Far North - Caithness and Sutherland - a bleak and sparsely populated area at Scotlands most Northern tip. This work was exhibited widely, and Glyn's first book Life in Caithness and Sutherland produced from it.
• An in-depth study for the first time (probably since Victorian times) at the way of life on Scottish Sporting Estates. It resulted in an exhibition and two books - The Scottish Highland Estate, and The Highland Game.
• The summers of 1999-2002 were spent photographing material for The Scottish Golf Book, The Scottish Fishing Book, and The Scottish Whisky Book. During this time he also finished a specially commissioned black and white photographic book for Ackergill Tower in Caithness, a behind the scenes look at one of Scotland's most prestigious hotels.

Glyn is based in Edinburgh, Scotland's capital, and has worked as a freelance for many U.K. European and American publications. These include The Telegraph, The Independent, The Observer, The Field, Country Life, Golf Monthly, Scottish Life, Forbes, Conde Nast Traveller, Ambiente, US Golf Weekly, Bunkered and Golf Pages (PGA). He also produces advertising brochures for Property Agents - Smiths Gore, I and H Brown, Strutt and Parker, Retties, and for Visit Scotland. Recent commissions for hotel and country club brochures and web-site material have been from Skibo Castle (Dornoch), Matven Hall (Northumbria), Stappleford Park( Leicestershire), and for two of Peter de Savary's newest developments - Bovey Castle in Devon and The Abaco Club, on Winding Bay in The Bahamas. He is about to begin two new projects - a new Scottish Golf Book (colour) and a personal project for the Demarco gallery at Skateraw near Dunbar.
